What is your role at Graphic Power?

I am the marketing manager here at Graphic Power. I am still finding my feet a little as I only started here 4 months although I do feel like I have been part of the team for years! I currently manage the social media for our clients, deliver email marketing campaigns, write engaging content for web and help my clients optimise their website for SEO.

Most satisfying part of your job?

I really enjoy planning the social content for my clients each month and then executing it. Being creative and coming up with ideas that stand out in a busy market place can be hard, but by planning in advance and making the most of seasonal content it can pay off in the long run.

We like to have monthly meetings with our clients to understand what’s happening with them, what they have coming up and what they would like to promote. I follow up by planning a full content calendar before working with our in-house photographers and designers to create amazing imagery to share. It's very satisfying to see client enquires and sales from social media posts.

All you have to do is take a look at the Artmarket Gallery's social channels to see Alex's expertise in action.

Yearly goal at Graphic Power?

Personally, I have several goals. Digital marketing is an ever-changing subject, so you must keep on top of your knowledge. I would love to attend Brighton SEO this year as its somewhere I have keen to attend for a few years now. Additionally, I would like to help with bring onboard new clients to Graphic Power as we are an ever-growing business with some fantastic talent in our team to be utilised.

One of my goal’s (client based) is to grow their following on Instagram. Since I have taken over their social handles, we are seeing more and more enquires being generated through Instagram.

Why do you think social media is important?

Social media is an important part of any businesses marketing strategy, it is something that needs to be carefully considered and well thought out. All of your channels should align and have the same branding and a particular tone of voice. Social platforms are the best way to connect instantly with your audience/customer, it can help you gage the interest in your product and/or service. People trust people, therefore customer reviews and opinions shared on social sites can be critical to the success of your business.

I personally love managing my clients social profiles as it gives me chance to be creative and interact with the people who love their brand/company/product the most!

How did you get into marketing?

Originally, I always wanted to work in fashion, it was my dream from being really young. After my A Levels I was accepted on a foundation course at London College of Fashion with the intention of going on to study a degree in fashion design. However, I soon realised I was a tiny fish in a very large pond. I completed my foundation year but after speaking to my tutors they advised for me to step away from design and go for something like communications or advertising.

After much deliberation and research, I decided to study International Fashion Marketing in Manchester. I completed my three-year course and managed to intern for a few different agencies and brands alongside it.

After I graduated, I worked in the content team at an online retailer which gave me great insight into how digital teams work alongside each other. 4 other jobs and 3 months travelling abroad later here I am!

What would your last meal on earth be?

Well, I do like to think about this quite often as I LOVE food. It does change but I would probably say something like a sharing platter to start, you know lots of nibbles and dips, a bit like a picnic. I am normally full by that point because I get over excited and eat too many starters. But for a main course I would choose some form of seafood pasta dish or a Penang curry direct from Thailand if that’s allowed! For my dessert it has to be something salted caramel, it’s my favourite flavour ever. All washed down with a Slingsby Rhubarb gin with elderflower tonic - perfection! Also, can I be sat on a beach while eating this please?

If you were a brand what would be? And why?

The first brand that comes to mind is Innocent smoothies! I absolutely love their marketing. It’s fun, quirky and a little bit cheeky. It always stands out, the branding is always on point and their social team try to make light of every situation. I love their ethics, stance on sustainability and amazing attitude. I would love to work with their team to see how they create such fantastic campaigns. I always like to say I am an ‘ideas person’ so I think i'd do quite well as part of the innocent team.

What is your dream job?

Aside from being a fashion designer, I would love to be a chef. I really enjoy cooking; I love to try new things and experiment with different ingredients. I think because my life revolves around the digital world it’s something away from that where I can express myself creatively in a completely different way.

A few years ago, I went travelling around South East Asia for 3 months which really impacted the way I cook now and the flavours I like to use. I have recently cut meat out my diet as I am really keen to cut down my impact on the environment, so this is enabling me too to try so many new meals and experiment with flavours so much more. Fingers crossed you’ll see me on Master Chef one day soon!

Money no object - what would you purchase?

I have always said if I won the lottery the first thing, I would buy is a Celine handbag, I have always loved them, but I am really not sure why. I think as I have grown older, I appreciate other things so much more, so instead I would buy a luxury villa somewhere hot where me and my family can spend quality time together!
